Neighbors' hearts open to aid single dad after Weeki Wachee home burns

WEEKI WACHEE — Jeremy Little awoke Friday morning to a deluge of generosity from fellow Hernando County residents.

"I'm so overwhelmed, I can't think straight right now," Little said, his voice shaking. "I'm absolutely amazed at how much love people have given us."

Callers promised toys, baby clothes and hundreds of dollars to Little after a story in the Times described the fire that destroyed his mobile home in Weeki Wachee. Readers were especially touched by a picture of Little holding the hand of his 2-year-old son, Caleb, as they walked among the ruins.

One woman, who asked to remain anonymous, offered a vacant double-wide mobile home with a refrigerator and a gas stove. Her father used to live in the home ...
