LARGO — A 19-year-old Largo man pulled a gun and attempted to rob a McDonald's employee leaving work Sunday night, police said.
But the worker put up a fight. And even though the would-be robber got away, he apparently dropped his cell phone.
Oops. Largo police recovered the phone and used it to identify Ryan Terrell Haynes, who was arrested less than two hours later on a charge of robbery with use of a firearm. He remained in the Pinellas County Jail on Monday in lieu of $50,000 bail.
The victim, who was mentally handicapped, was walking to his car at the McDonald's at 13875 Walsingham Road about 9:20 p.m. when Haynes approached him and demanded money, police said.
