Dr. Garland Forbes, a endodontist who specializes in root canal treatments at practices in New Port Richey, Spring Hill and Dunedin, is on a campaign to help the environment.
Four years ago, Forbes learned about a program coordinated by the Florida Department of Agriculture, where students plant and nurture seedlings each year and seek ways to distribute them for planting.
Forbes began handing out trees first as a way to show appreciation to some dental colleagues, and then partnered with United Way of Pasco County and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Tampa Bay to help distribute trees.
Over the past four years, Forbes has distributed more than 13,000 trees that were planted in Pasco, Pinellas, Hillsborough, Hernando and Polk counties. This year he ordered 3,000 trees to be available for distribution, bringing the five year total for his ...
