TAMPA — A suspect has been arrested after a house fire Wednesday evening in central Tampa was found to be arson, police said.
About 5:45 p.m., Tampa Fire Rescue responded to the fire at 2225 N Ridgewood Ave. Crews reported smoke and flames, but the fire was under control in 15 minutes and no injuries were reported.
The Tampa Fire Marshals Office and Tampa police investigated the blaze. They said the owners were not home at the time of the fire.
Tampa police said late Wednesday that the fire had been caused by arson and an arrest had been made. The name of the suspect was not yet released.
