"Hiccup Girl' went from laughter to tears as police interviewed her about murder

ST. PETERSBURG —- The woman known as "Hiccup Girl" seemed almost carefree just before police interviewed her about the fatal shooting of 22-year-old Shannon Griffin.

Jennifer Mee was sitting down in the St. Petersburg Police Department's homicide unit in October when officers discussed the other suspects they had just interviewed. One detective later described her this way:

"She was swinging the chair from side to side and laughing, (and) Mee was talking about not having eaten much that day and laughing about the expiration date on a candy bar given to her by Sgt. Skinner. She did not appear to be concerned or worried."

But once police began interviewing her, "she began to sob heavily and she was using her shirt to wipe her face," according to police and court records reviewed this week by the St. Petersburg Times that ...
