• Wesley Chapel High School students Larissa Farrell, Vince Delacruz and Jimothy Jamison received first place for their public service announcement in Pasco County's "America Recycles Day" commercial contest. The students are second-year members of the Television Production sequence at Wesley Chapel High School. The winning video may be viewed at www.pasco.k12.fl.us/recycle/efforts/contests.
Community helpers
• American Legion Post 173 of Holiday has adopted Gulfside Elementary as a business partner and has been helping out. It provided American flags for students at the annual Veterans Day Assembly, gave 10 Gulfside families of veterans turkeys and the trimmings for Thanksgiving, sponsored a breakfast on the morning of the Great American Teach-In and awarded a savings bond to two top citizens — one boy and one girl — who are graduating from fifth grade.
