NEW PORT RICHEY — A woman in her 60s was injured Wednesday night after being hit by a Pasco sheriff's cruiser, authorities said.
Detective Bruce Cohen, who serves with the Pasco sheriff's economic crimes unit, was driving north on Congress Street about 8:30 p.m. when he hit a woman walking near Kentucky Avenue, sheriff's spokesman Kevin Doll said.
Cohen stopped at the scene and called for help. The woman, whose name was not released, was taken to a local hospital. Her condition was not available Thursday.
Cohen, 49, was driving his agency-issued vehicle — an unmarked 2005 Crown Victoria — at the time. Doll would not say whether Cohen was on duty at the time, or whether he was responding to a call. Cohen remains on active duty.
