TAMPA — Hillsborough sheriff's detectives say they have cracked two murder cases.
In one case, deputies arrested a man wanted in the 2001 murder of Sabrina Hayes.
William Henry Sanders, 27, of Tampa, was charged with second-degree murder and booked into the Orient Road jail Wednesday afternoon.
Hayes, 25, was shot in June 2001 as she drove through Progress Village in southeast Hillsborough. Hayes is the mother of a girl who was 19 months old at the time.
On Thursday, the Sheriff's Office announced that they had learned that Sanders sold drugs in the Progress Village area in 2001. Detectives already knew that Hayes frequented the area to purchase drugs. They believe the shooting was over a drug deal.
