TARPON SPRINGS — A 57-year-old man is accused of trying to set an occupied apartment building on fire last week.
Corey Edward Kreuter, of the 200 block of E Lemon Street, was arrested early Monday and charged with arson, burglary and failure to appear on a petty theft charge.
According to arrest reports, Kreuter used to live in the apartment building at 317 E Tarpon Ave. but had moved out a few weeks ago. About 4 a.m. Jan. 18, Kreuter returned, kicked in the door of Unit 3 and started to light a fire but fled when residents from other units confronted him, reports show.
No one was injured.
The residents were able to identify him to Tarpon Springs police, who found him about 2 a.m. Monday.
