TAMPA – A Polk County man was arrested Wednesday in a fatal shooting of a Tampa man in October, police said.

Jean M. Jamison, 24, is charged with attempted second-degree murder.

Police said Jamison and Arnold Fields, 24, of Tampa, attacked and stabbed Waitus Howard, 36, outside of the Del Rio Apartments on Oct. 9. Another man, Demario Edwards, then 19, ran to Howard's aid.

Police said Jamison and Fields then shot Edwards, who later died, before running away. Fields was found in a nearby apartment complex with a gun. He was charged with second degree murder and attempted second-degree murder.

Jamison went into hiding. He was reported to be as far away as Virginia. After hearing Jamison returned to the Frostproof area, Tampa police, the U.S. Marshals and Polk County Sheriff's office worked together to find him.

Police said Jamison was hiding in a bedroom armoire at 58 Lincoln Road in Frostproof. He was taken to Polk County Jail.
