Today

People Helping People dinner: 4-6 p.m., Senior Citizens Club of Hernando County, 7925 Rhanbuoy Road, Spring Hill. Anyone hungry can receive a free meal. Dinners served every Sunday. Volunteers and donations are welcome. (352) 686-4466.

"Unlocking Autism for A Cause" auto show and concert: Palace Grand, 275 Della Court, Spring Hill. A Car, Truck & Motorcycle Show will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.; food and beverages available. Doors open at 4:45 p.m. for the Tommy Mara Unplugged concert. A buffet dinner will be at 5:15 p.m.; showtime is 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $35. Wednesday

Community budget meeting with County Administrator David Hamilton: 1:30 p.m., Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9236, 3435 Shoal Line Blvd., Hernando Beach. Residents will have an opportunity to listen to a review of county's budget for fiscal year 2010-11 and ask questions of the county administrator and budget director. (352) 754-4002.

Mommy & Me: 9:30-11:30 a.m., St. Anthony Catholic Church, 20428 Cortez Blvd., Brooksville. This is an interactive program for children ages 2-4 and their parents (mom or dad). Youth Livestock Committee preregistration information seminar: 5 p.m., Hernando County Fairgrounds, 6436 S Broad St., Brooksville. This meeting is for all youth interested in showing a market animal (swine, steer, feeder, steer, pen of meat poultry or pen of meat rabbit projects) at the 2011 county fair. Preregistration is required in order to be eligible to show a market animal at the fair. (352) 796-4552.

Thursday

Holy Cross food distribution: 9-11 a.m., Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 6193 Spring Hill Drive, Spring Hill. Free distribution in church parking lot of bread, bagels, pastries, clothing and other personal necessities for those in need. (727) 808-4096.

Toddler Time/Storytime Preschool Programs: Toddler Time for children ages 18-35 months starts at 10 a.m., followed by Storytime for children ages 3-5 years at 11 a.m., Spring Hill Branch Library, 9220 Spring Hill Drive, Spring Hill. Ghost Tours: 8-10 p.m., Hernando Heritage Museum, 601 Museum Court, Brooksville. Legend has it that the museum — a four-story, 12-room house built more than 151 years ago by Brooksville pioneer John May — is inhabited by the spirits of family members, including May's 3-year-old daughter, Jessie. Labor Day Weekend Celebration Dinner and Dance: 6 p.m., Hernando Beach Club, 3145 Flamingo Blvd., Hernando Beach. Dinner will be served at 7 p.m. Entertainment will follow at 8 p.m. with Southern Exposure. Reservations are required by Wednesday. $13 for members, $16 for nonmembers. (352) 754-2802.

Citrus County Craft Council's 21st Annual Harvest Moon Craft Show: 9 a.m.-3 p.m., National Guard Armory Crystal River, 8551 W Venable St., Crystal River. This indoor/outdoor event includes numerous crafters with stained-glass art, decorative painted items, ceramics, floral arrangements, handcrafted greeting cards, jewelry, wood items, porcelain dolls, handbags and other items. Items will be raffled, and food and refreshments will be available. The show benefits the Humanitarians of Florida in Crystal River; donations of pet supplies are appreciated. Senior Prom at the VFW: 6 p.m., Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 10209, 14736 Edward R. Noll Drive, Spring Hill. This is a 1950s and '60s style "senior prom" with music provided by Vintage. There will be hula hoop, dancing and 1950s trivia contests. A prom king and queen will be crowned. Guests are encouraged to bring their old prom photos.
