Health notes

No-cost amplified phones available

The Deaf and Hearing Connection recently announced the availability of no-cost amplified telephones at the Aging Well Center in the Long Center at 1501 N Belcher Road, Clearwater. The Deaf and Hearing Connection offers amplified telephones and related equipment at no cost to permanent Florida residents who are deaf, hard of hearing, deaf/blind or speech-impaired.

Equipment is available by appointment 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. the last Wednesday of every month. Appointments are also available Monday through Friday at the Deaf and Hearing Connection's main office at 7821 Seminole Blvd., Seminole, or at other satellite locations throughout Pinellas and Hillsborough counties.

The Deaf and Hearing Connection, Tampa Bay's only non-profit hearing center, also offers free hearing screenings by appointment, low-cost hearing aids, cleanings and repairs.

The free seminar, "Knee Pain & Arthritis —The Relief You Need" with guest speaker Dr. Alan Graves, an orthopedic surgeon, will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Helen Ellis Memorial Hospital, 1395 S Pinellas Ave., Tarpon Springs.
