THIS WEEK

Boot-scootin': Brookridge Social Dance will host a Western-themed dance from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. Saturday at Brookridge Community Clubhouse, 8150 Hampton St., Brookridge. Music provided by Diane and Mitch. Guests can bring their own beverages. Ice and coffee provided throughout the evening, and doughnuts will be served at 9:30 p.m., after a 50/50 raffle. $5 at the door. Call (352) 597-0723.

Tall tales: An evening of storytelling with Jerry Cowling is 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday at Hill House Bed and Breakfast, 406 E Liberty St., Brooksville. Prom for seniors: A 1950s and '60s-style senior prom begins at 6 p.m. Saturday at VFW Post 10209, 14736 Edward R. Noll Drive, Spring Hill. Vintage will provide music. There will be Hula Hoop, dancing and 1950s trivia contests. A prom king and queen will be crowned. Guests are encouraged to bring old prom photos. In the limelight: Local rock 'n' roll band Limelight will perform from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. Saturday at BB MaGee's Tavern, 12400 County Line Road, Hudson. The group also will perform from 7 to 11 p.m. Sept. 11 at the Hideaway, 247 Hallcrest Ave., Spring Hill. The group performs music from the 1960s through the present. Senior moment: The Show Palace Dinner Theater continues the musical comedy Mid-Life: The Crisis Musical, a look at the "joys" of growing older, matinees and evenings through Sept. 26. LOOK AHEAD

Star-filled evening: The National Alliance on Mental Illness of Hernando County presents "A Starry, Starry Night" from 6 to 10 p.m. Sept. 11 at Palace Grand, 275 Della Court, Spring Hill. The event will include a cash bar, catered dinner and music by Off the Cuff, with vocalist Stefani Laporta. The Central High School NJROTC will honor those in the service. CURTAIN CALL

GLEE-FUL dancers and singers needed: The John Leggio's Center for the Performing Arts will conduct open auditions for singers and dancers age 7 through adult from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. today for GLEE-FUL at the studio, 10455 County Line Road, Spring Hill. Singers should prepare 16 bars of an up-tempo song or ballad. Dancers should come prepared to learn a combination and should dress for dance. No accompanist will be provided; bring CD accompaniment if possible. Those auditioning do not have to be John Leggio students. The show is a musical theater revue based on the hit TV show Glee.
