ST. PETERSBURG — The City Council opened its Thursday meeting without the familiar sight of chairwoman Leslie Curran at the helm.
On Monday, Curran fell off her bicycle at 19 mph and hit her head. She was taken to Bayfront Medical Center where she remains with a severe concussion.
Curran was in an induced coma on Monday, but it's unclear what her condition is now or when she will return. In her absence, City Council Vice Chairman Herb Polson will run the meetings.
"She looks very forward to coming back," Polson said at the meeting. "We will all get through this and the city will move forward."
