HUDSON — Authorities have arrested a young man accused of injuring four people in a hit-and-run accident with an ATV over the weekend.

The Florida Highway Patrol says Michael Dennis Floyd, 17, was driving his pickup west on Denton Avenue about 2 a.m. Saturday when he collided with an all-terrain vehicle going south on Hicks Road. FHP said the ATV ran through the stop sign.

The kids on the ATV — ranging in age from 12 to 16 — were all thrown from the vehicle. They were taken to area hospitals for their injuries.

Floyd later told authorities he ran from the scene because he didn't have a driver's license and had a warrant out for his arrest. Two passengers in his truck eventually identified Floyd, who turned himself in to authorities Wednesday, a report states.

The Hudson teen faces charges of leaving the scene of an accident with serious bodily injury and driving without a valid license.
