TAMPA — A Florida Highway Patrol trooper was injured Wednesday morning after a flatbed truck struck his motorcycle on Interstate 4.
Trooper James Goethe's injuries were not life-threatening. He was taken to Tampa General Hospital, where he was in stable condition.
Authorities said the accident happened about 11 a.m. when Goethe stopped a 2002 Acura for a traffic violation on the north shoulder of I-4, west of 22nd Street.
Goethe was positioning his motorcycle in front of the car when the truck smashed into the Acura. The car smacked into Goethe's motorcycle, throwing him to the ground.
The truck then spun out of control and struck the motorcycle.
The other people involved in the crash had minor injuries.
