ST. PETERSBURG — A woman robbed a SunTrust Bank Friday morning, handing a teller a note and demanding cash, police said.
Police initially said it was the first bank robbery committed by a woman in 10 years, but later backed off of that statement.
The woman implied she had a weapon and told tellers not to give her a dye pack during the 9 a.m. robbery. She received an undisclosed amount of money and left the bank, 8299 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. St. N ,through the back.
The suspect was described as Asian, in her 40s, 5 feet tall, about 100 pounds, very thin with dark brown, short hair.
She was wearing a black and purple Tampa Bay Rays baseball cap with an old image of a devil ray, dating it back to the time the team was known as the Devil Rays.
She was wearing an oversized white T-shirt with a golf logo and was carrying a green Publix bag.
