DADE CITY
Dealerships plans fundraiser test drives
Jarrett Ford Lincoln Mercury will host a fundraiser this week to raise up to $6,000 each for Pasco and Zephyrhills high schools.
For every person who comes in for a test drive from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday or Saturday, the dealership will donate $20 to the schools as part of Ford's Drive One 4 UR School program. Members of the local Rotary Club will donate their time at the event and will contribute additional funds to the schools.
"We're excited to help raise money for Pasco and Zephyrhills high school and at the same time introduce parents, teenagers and other drivers to our high-quality lineup and innovative safety technologies," said Cliff Martin, general manager at Jarrett Ford Lincoln Mercury in Dade City. "We know it is important that students continue to have opportunities to participate in extracurricular activities, and that's why, over the past two years, it has been our privilege to help support these important programs."
Participants must be 18 or older and have a valid driver's license. There is a limit of one test drive per household.
For information, call the dealership at (352) 567-6711.
LAND O'LAKES
Heritage Park group to talk about events
The Heritage Park Foundation will meet at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the Land O'Lakes Community Center, 5401 Land O'Lakes Blvd.
As a "Friends of the Park" organization, Heritage members will discuss upcoming events including the October "Scarecrow N' Stuff" event, the third annual "Traditions on the Green" in December and an antique car show fundraiser for the park in January.
Members also will discuss plans for raising additional funds and building a community amphitheater for the park for concerts and local talent to use.
The Land O'Lakes Community Center has a long history of community involvement and was created by citizens seeking a central site for everyone from sports teams to civic organizations to meet and enjoy.
The Heritage Park Foundation seeks to preserve this history and welcomes anyone interested in joining.
