DADE CITY — A 20-year-old is accused of robbing a gas station at gunpoint and using his grandfather's sedan as a getaway car.
Sinclair James Davis, a McDonald's employee who lives at 36812 Foxglove Ave. in Dade City, was arrested Tuesday. He is charged with robbery with a deadly weapon and two counts of assault with intent to commit a felony.
Authorities say Davis and another suspect — who remains at large — robbed the Foodmax Gas Station at 37006 Lock St. in Dade City about 11 p.m. Monday. Davis and the other suspect wore masks and ordered the store manager and clerk to get on the floor, Pasco deputies said.
The other suspect hurdled the counter and stole a white Dutch Master's cigar box with between $300 and $400 cash inside it — likely the store's version of a cash register, according to the Pasco County Sheriff's Office.
Davis is accused of firing a gunshot before fleeing the scene. Witnesses recorded the car's license plate number, a report states.
Authorities found the empty cigar box and latex gloves worn during the robbery inside the sedan, which Davis ditched in Carver Heights, according to the report.
Davis is being held in the Pasco County jail in lieu of $160,000 bail.
