THONOTOSASSA — Deputies on Wednesday identified the body of a man found on the side of Walker Road last week and ruled his death a homicide.
George Anthony Rodney, 37, of Coral Springs, was last seen in Tampa on Sept. 14, six days before passersby spotted his body on the west shoulder of Walker Road just south of Greylock Road.
He suffered upper-body trauma and his body was decomposing, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office.
The investigation found Rodney had rented a white 2010 Nissan Versa four-door with the license plate 995-JPR before driving to Tampa.
Deputies said Rodney made trips between Tampa and South Florida several times a week to deliver illegal drugs, and his death was not random.
