ST. PETERSBURG — Police say a woman who fits the description of a suspect in an earlier bank robbery struck again Thursday morning just blocks from the first robbery.

And now they say she may have just struck a third bank nearby.

Shortly after 1 p.m., police got a call to BB&T bank at 7100 4th Street N, in which witnesses said a small Asian woman walked in and demanded money in a similar fashion. Police are still working the scene, a police spokesman said.

Earlier at 9:35 a.m. Thursday, police responded to a call from Sterns Bank at 7555 Dr. Martin Luther King Street N. Witnesses described the suspect as a slender, 5-foot Asian female in her 50s who was wearing a light blue windbreaker, yellow ball cap and blue shorts. She was carrying a blue bag with white trim, police said.

The woman partially displayed a handgun concealed inside a blue bag she was carrying. She left the bank and headed south on Dr. Martin Luther King Street, but no getaway vehicle was seen, police said.

The description of the woman matches that of the suspect in the Sept. 17 robbery of the Sun Trust Bank at 8299 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Street N.
