ZEPHYRHILLS — The City Council voted unanimously Monday evening to apply for a federally funded grant to improve the old, brick fire station downtown.
If approved, the $750,000 Community Development Block Grant would be used to add a metal roof, emergency generator, hurricane hardening and improvements to the exterior, landscaping, parking lots and sidewalk. The city has been working to fix up Fire Station No. 2, which had been damaged by flooding.
Once the application is submitted, the city will hold a couple of public hearings and gather input from a citizens group.
