People Helping People needs some help, too

People Helping People needs community support in it efforts to provide free weekly meals to those in need. The nonprofit volunteer interfaith organization offers meals from 4 to 6 p.m. Sundays at the Senior Citizen Center of Hernando County, 7925 Rhanbuoy Road. The group also provides free clothing, bread, groceries, bicycles and tokens for THE Bus. Groups and individuals may help by either preparing meals or through monetary donations. Donations may be sent to People Helping People, P.O. Box 6182, Spring Hill, FL 34611. For information, call (352) 686-4466.

Volunteers sought to prepare taxes

The Retired Senior Volunteer Program is seeking volunteer tax preparers for the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program that will be offered during the upcoming tax season. Classes will begin in December for those wishing to become certified volunteer tax preparers. Those interested should call RSVP at (352) 796-8117 or the site coordinator at (352) 835-7598.

Thrift store will recycle electronics

The Habitat for Humanity of Hernando County Thrift Store now provides for electronics recycling. Residents with unwanted or broken electronic devices, such as cameras, computers, stereos and VCR/DVD players, may drop them off at the thrift shop at 19450 Cortez Blvd. in the Brooksville Square plaza. Drop-offs may be made between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. weekdays and Saturdays. For information, call (352) 754-1159.
