East Lake High band wins top honors at Tarpon Springs festival

Tarpon Springs High color guard practices before competing in the Annual Outdoor Music Festival, hosted Saturday by the Tarpon Springs High School Leadership Conservatory for the Arts. Several Tampa Bay area high school bands entered the competition.

TARPON SPRINGS — East Lake High School's marching band registered the best visual performance and best percussion in Class 1-A on Saturday to lead North Pinellas schools in the 15th annual Tarpon Springs Outdoor Music Festival.

As the host school, Tarpon Springs High did not compete for scores.

East Lake placed second in Class 1-A to Northside Christian of St. Petersburg, which also placed first in best music performance, best general effect and best auxiliary in its class.

Seminole High School took first place overall, won Class 4-A and also took first place in best auxiliary in Class 4-A.

Palm Harbor placed third in Class 3-A and Dunedin took fifth in Class 2-A.
