Meetings look at ideas for Causeway Blvd.
The city will host four public meetings this week to explore development ideas for Causeway Boulevard. Residents and officials will discuss land use along the popular link between Bayshore Boulevard and Honeymoon Island during meetings from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, and a studio session from 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, all at the Marker 1 Marina Cafe at 343 Causeway Blvd. Call (727) 298-3198.

Tickets available for award dinner

Bullying is focus of presentation
Local psychologist Steve O'Brien will give a presentation on the signs and effects of bullying young people at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Safety Harbor Middle School media center, 901 First Ave. N. Parents and community members are invited. O'Brien is an assistant professor at the American School of Professional Psychology at Argosy University. Many kids need foster parents
Eckerd Community Alternatives is calling for potential foster parents to consider opening their homes to a child in need. There are more than 3,500 dependent children in Pinellas and Pasco counties due to child abuse, neglect or abandonment. Many of them need loving foster parents. Mentor program needs volunteers
Gulf Coast Community Care needs volunteers age 30 and older for its mentoring program. Volunteers give their time to one child and are provided social activities and receive support from agency staff. Many of the children in the program are in foster care or live with a single parent who is going to school and working. Volunteers spend a few hours a month in activities such as reading, fishing, baking, teaching a craft or visiting a park. Cancer patients could use a ride
The American Cancer Society's Road to Recovery Program needs volunteers throughout Pinellas County who are willing to drive cancer patients to and from treatments. Training is provided.
