INDIAN ROCKS BEACH — Pinellas sheriff's deputies said they arrested a local resident on multiple charges Wednesday evening after he jumped up and down on several cars and attacked motorists on Gulf Boulevard.
Witnesses told deputies that Bradford H. Bartolo, 45, was standing in the middle of the road at 20th Avenue N. First, he wouldn't let a 1970 Volkswagen convertible go by. Bartolo jumped on the hood, kicked out the driver's side window, then tried to punch the driver, deputies reported.
Bartolo then jumped on the hood of a 2005 Ford convertible, deputies said. He then started punching Phyllis Duncan, 68, of Redington Beach, whose husband was behind the wheel. Duncan was treated by paramedics at the scene and released.
When deputies got there just before 7 p.m., they had to restrain Bartolo, who appeared drunk, they said. Deputies said Bartolo told them: "Take me to jail, I don't need to be out in the public."
Bartolo, of 2400 First St. N., was arrested on two counts of burglary with assault or battery, two counts of criminal mischief and one count of disorderly intoxication. He was being held at the Pinellas County Jail Wednesday night in lieu of $110,000 bail.
