Glitzy pageant
The Miss Hernando County Pageant will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Silverthorn Country Club, 4550 Golf Club Lane, Spring Hill. The event includes the Little Miss and Mister Glitz Pageant and Baby Boo Pageant/Model Search. This is a charity event, with all proceeds from spectator admission benefiting the Suncoast Harvest Food Bank. Visitors are asked to bring a nonperishable food item. Spectator admission is $10. Neil Simon comedy: Shark Theatre's production of The Good Doctor continues at 7 p.m. today and 2 p.m. Saturday at the Black Box Theater at Nature Coast Technical High School, 4057 California St., south of Brooksville. The Neil Simon comedy, set in 19th century Russia, is an adaptation of a series of comic short stories by Anton Chekhov. For the birds: Brooksville Chapter 1298 of the Experimental Aircraft Association will host a Fall Fly and Drive In Lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday at its hangar at the Hernando County Airport, off Broad Street, south of Brooksville. Lunch will include hamburgers, sausages, hot dogs and German and American potato salads, as well as drinks and desserts. Pilots should call Unicom on 123.00 before landing for tie-down information. Eclectic music event: The Riverhawk Music Festival will kick off Thursday at the Sertoma Youth Ranch, 85 Myers Road, south of Spring Lake. The four-day outdoor festival continues through Nov. 7 and features three stages with more than 40 bands playing a variety of folk, bluegrass, country, Americana, Celtic and roots rock.
