Dog park visitors can buy $30 pass
The Hernando County Commission has implemented an annual parking pass for the Rotary Centennial Dog Park, 10375 Sandlor St. The pass is $30. Otherwise, there is a $1 per day parking meter fee at the park. Applications for the annual pass are available at Hernando County Recreation, 205 E Fort Dade Ave., Brooksville, and on the website at co.hernando.fl.us/parks_rec/parks/feesNpasses.asp. Heritage Museum will have haunted house
The Hernando Heritage Museum's annual haunted house will be from 7 to 11 p.m. today and Saturday at 601 Museum Court. The event will include fireside stories, fortune-telling, games and face painting. Author Dave Lapham will sign copies of his new book, Ghosthunting Florida, which devotes a chapter to the Heritage Museum. Inside, the three-story mansion has been transformed into a haunted house. Tours of the house are $5 and are not recommended for children younger than 8. Refreshments will be available. For details, call (352) 799-0129.
Fire Rescue will host open house Saturday
Hernando County Fire Rescue will host an open house from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at Fire Station 11, 6388 Barclay Ave. The event will include emergency response vehicles and tours of the firehouse.
