TAMPA — A man who got into an altercation at a gathering of friends Wednesday night shot one of them in the thigh and foot, deputies said.
Matthew Joshua Green, 19, of an apartment at 3003 Barnhard Drive, is charged with attempted second-degree murder. He was being held without bail at the Hillsborough County jail.
Around 11:30 p.m., an argument broke out between Green and another guest at the get-together. Green reached into his waistband and pulled out a silver handgun that he had flashed earlier in the evening, a Sheriff's Office report says.
Green then shot the male victim from less than 2 feet away, the report shows. The injuries were considered non-life threatening.
People at the gathering, which the report indicates was near Green's home north of the University of South Florida, witnessed the shooting and detained Green until deputies arrived.
Authorities said they recovered a .38-caliber Smith & Wesson revolver.
