TAMPA — One driver died, another was badly hurt and all aboard a HARTline bus were uninjured in a crash involving the three vehicles Thursday night, authorities said.
The crash occurred just before 9:30 p.m. at Nebraska and Sligh avenues.
A Nissan Xterra driven by a man was going south on Nebraska when it collided with a Toyota Matrix driven by a woman going east on Sligh, said Tampa Fire Rescue. The impact sent the Matrix into the side of the bus stopped on Nebraska.
The man was taken to Tampa General Hospital with serious injuries. The woman died. Police did not release their names as the investigation continued.
The bus held 12 passengers and the driver.
Fire Rescue said the gas tank from the Matrix ruptured. The intersection was closed as officials determined the best way to clean up the pool of gasoline.
