Pasco deputy in good condition after being hit by red-light runner

NEW PORT RICHEY — The Pasco County sheriff's deputy who was seriously injured after a pickup truck ran a red light and struck his cruiser Sunday was in good condition Monday morning.

Deputy Ryan Lennox, 24, suffered a broken pelvis in the Sunday afternoon incident.

He was taken by helicopter to Bayfront Medical Center Sunday afternoon in critical condition, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Kurt A. Gell, the driver of the truck that failed to stop at the intersection of Little Road and Denton Avenue in New Port Richey, was taken by ambulance to Bayfront Medical Center with minor injuries.

According to the patrol, Gell was cited for running a traffic signal.
