Symphony Orchestra stages Holiday concert
The Hernando Symphony Orchestra will present its Holiday 2010 Concert at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday and 2 p.m. Dec. 5 at Springstead Theater, 3300 Mariner Blvd., Spring Hill, and at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 11 at the Hernando High School Performing Arts Center, 700 Bell Ave., Brooksville. A botanical gardens holiday
Clubs, organizations and businesses may participate in the annual Holiday in the Gardens, which will be Saturday at the Nature Coast Botanical Gardens, 1489 Parker Ave. Participants decorate an evergreen tree on the grounds. They are encouraged to select a distinctive decorating theme to represent their organization. The botanical gardens will provide a sign with each organization's information. While participants decorate, there will be entertainers and brunch prepared by Spring Hill Garden Club members. A contest for the best decorated tree will continue through Dec. 24. Museum has holiday event
The Hernando Heritage Museum will present its annual Christmas Candlelight Tour from 6 to 9 p.m. Dec. 11 at 601 Museum Court. The museum is housed in the 1854 May-Stringer house, a Victorian home that will be decorated with a lighted tree, ornaments and numerous candles. There will be carolers. Punch will be served. Book group opens 'Shack'
The Brooksville Book Discussion Group will meet at 6 p.m. Dec. 13 at Lykes Memorial Library, 238 Howell Ave. The book to be discussed is The Shack by William Young. Toys for Tots collection
The U.S. Postal Service Letter Carriers will collect new, unwrapped toys Saturday for the Marine Corps League Toys for Tots program in Hernando County. Residents can leave toys for children ages 12 and younger in bags or boxes by their mailboxes. For information about the local Toys for Tots program, call (352) 796-3666.
