LARGO — A day after a 26-year-old woman was gunned down in a brazen midmorning shooting, authorities announced that a reward is being offered for information that leads to the man suspected of killing her.
Crime Stoppers of Pinellas County is offering $1,000 for information leading to the arrest of Larry Joe Jerry Jr., 26.
Shortly after Annie M. Conyers was shot in front of the Rainbow Food Mart on East Bay Drive around 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, police identified Jerry as the suspected shooter.
Conyers was shot in the lower torso and flown to Bayfront Medical Center in St. Petersburg, where she died Tuesday afternoon.
Several law enforcement agencies are involved in the search for Jerry, a felon with a history of drug and battery arrests. By early Wednesday afternoon, he had not been located, said Largo police spokesman Lt. Mike Loux.
Jerry is considered armed and dangerous, police said.
The vehicle he was driving, a 2011 Ford Edge, was found abandoned later Tuesday near Duncan Avenue and Marion Street in Clearwater.
Police have declined to discuss Jerry's motive, but a family member said Tuesday he was going after two other women who were with Conyers because he believed they were causing problems in his relationship. Malaya Pelham, Jerry's 22-year-old half sister, said she did not believe that Conyers, of Clearwater, was his intended target.
