NEW PORT RICHEY — A thief who had been getting away with sneaking $6 to $15 into his pocket most nights he worked got greedy, went big and is in jail, the Sheriff's Office said.

Craig A. Fountain worked at Insomniacs, an all-night lounge at 4319 U.S. 19, and told authorities he stole $1,600 in two years by taking small amounts each week, a report states. But then he decided to take more, he told investigators, and hid in the bar after closing and cleaned out the cash register. Twice. First time, he got $175. Second, $256, authorities said. The report lists him as a "former" employee.

Fountain, 22, of New Port Richey, was arrested Monday and charged with grand theft. He was released from the Pasco County jail the same day on $2,000 bail.
