St. Petersburg Police officers examine a vehicle Monday after raising it from the waters of Big Bayou off Coquina Key after it was scraped by a fishing boat.
ST. PETERSBURG — A car was found submerged in the waters of Big Bayou early Monday after it was scraped by a fishing boat, police said.
St. Petersburg police investigators said the vehicle appeared to have been in the water for years.
A fisherman found the car about 5 a.m. just off Coquina Key Dog Park, 3595 Locust Street SE, and contacted authorities. Police and fire crews extracted the vehicle, which was mired deep in the muck.
