THONOTOSASSA — Two people were rushed to University Community Hospital after a vehicle crash Wednesday seriously injured them.
Just before 2 p.m., Thomas Michael Dolan, 56, of Hernando, stopped his Toyota Rav 4 at the intersection of Jefferson Road and Fowler Avenue before making a left turn onto Fowler, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
While making the turn, he crossed into the path of Weylon Cook's eastbound Ford pickup truck. Cook, 28, of Plant City hit the driver's side of Dolan's sport utility vehicle.
Dolan and his passenger, Debra Abrams Dolan, 55, were taken to UCH.
Thomas Dolan was in critical condition and was to be flown to Tampa General Hospital. Troopers said he was not wearing a seat belt. Debra Dolan was being treated for serious injuries at UCH. Cook was not injured.
An investigation continues.
