The seventh tropical depression of the 2010 hurricane season formed Tuesday in the southeastern Atlantic and is expected to become a tropical storm later today, according to hurricane forecasters.
If it does, its name will be Earl.
The depression has sustained winds of 35 mph and is traveling west about 17 mph. It is expected to continue west for the next day or two.
Tropical Depression 7 comes as Hurricane Danielle is expected to slowly strengthen in the south-central Atlantic.
The second hurricane of the season, Danielle was a Category 1 hurricane early Wednesday with sustained winds near 85 mph. Category 1 hurricanes have winds between 74 and 95 mph.
Forecasters said Danielle was expected to strengthen over the next two days.
The hurricane isn't threatening any land and is expected to turn north. The hurricane's projected path takes it near Bermuda.
The storm is moving west-northwest at about 20 mph.
