SPRING HILL — Two teenage brothers are accused of stabbing and slitting the throats of 18 racing pigeons late last week.
Sometime Friday or Saturday, the two unidentified brothers, 14 and 13, broke into their neighbor's shed at 16232 Verndale Lane, according to the Pasco County Sheriff's Office. The teenagers then stabbed the birds and slit their throats, deputies said. Several were decapitated.
The birds, bred and raised for racing, were valued at $15,000 total.
The brothers face charges of burglary and cruelty to animals and were taken to the Pasco Regional Juvenile Detention Center. Deputies did not identify the boys.
