Expect a brief cold front after early morning rain, fog

Scattered showers should be gone by early Wednesday morning and temperatures should be about 10 degrees cooler Wednesday night than it was in the morning.

Parts of Tampa Bay got up to a quarter inch of rain overnight. Temperatures Wednesday night were expected be in the mid-50s, said Juli Marquez, Bay News 9 meteorologist.

Dense fog covered coastal areas of southern Pinellas and Hillsborough counties Wednesday but was clearing by mid-morning. Fog near the Sunshine Skyway bridge could make it difficult for some drivers to see, Marquez said.

The cold front moving through Wednesday night will be brief. Hernando and Pasco counties could drop into the 40s on Thursday morning when the bay area will be foggy. By that afternoon, a partly sunny day will warm up most locations into the 70s.
