DADE CITY — A former employee of the Pasco County clerk's office was arrested this morning on charges she stole funds from the government agency.
Brandy N. Hartz, 23, of Dade City, is charged with one count of grand theft, according Capt. David Duff, of the Dade City Police Department. She worked as a records clerk in the traffic division until she was fired Friday.
Duff would not elaborate on the accusations. He said the amount Hartz allegedly stole from the agency was less than $10,000 but more than $1,000.
"Earlier this month the clerks' office came to us with some discrepancies in their bookkeeping," Duff said. "We conducted an investigation and it led to this arrest."
She was arrested at 9 a.m. and is being booked into the Pasco County jail.
