TAMPA — A three-car crash early Saturday left one person dead and two others injured, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

About 2:30 a.m. Saturday, Moris Rakaj, 28, of Clearwater, was heading west on W Hillsborough Avenue in a Ford Contour. He was in the inside lane behind a Saturn Sky driven by Jeffrey T. Marcus, 38, of Tampa, troopers said.

Marcus was driving slower than Rakaj, troopers said, and Rakaj may not have noticed the car before slamming into the back of it.

After the collision, Rakaj skidded into the eastbound lanes, where Michael Hayden was driving a Toyota Corolla. Troopers said Hayden, 60, of Tarpon Springs, hit Rakaj's Ford on the right side.

Rakaj died at the scene, according to the FHP. Hayden was taken to St. Joseph's Hospital in serious condition. Marcus went to Town 'N' Country Hospital with minor injuries.
