Challenger K-8 School Of Science And Mathematics: The School Advisory Council meets at 6 p.m. Oct. 5 in the media center.
Deltona Elementary School: The school's first general meeting is at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 30. A secretary and a vice president of ways and means will be elected. There will be entertainment and refreshments.
Hernando Christian Academy: The school will celebrate its 30th anniversary with a Legacy Dinner/Auction on Oct. 9 at the school. For information and tickets, call (352) 796-0616.
Hernando County Student-parent Expo: This opportunity fair/college night is from 6 to 8 p.m. Sept. 16 in the Nature Coast Technical High School cafeteria, 4057 California St. Hernando County juniors and seniors are invited. Representatives from community colleges, universities, technical schools, the military and many local businesses will be available to help students plan for the future. Scholarship information also will be available.
Hernando High School: The school's open house is at 6 p.m. Monday in the auditorium. It begins with a brief overview and continues with parents/guardians following a shortened school day schedule. Call Mary Krabel at (352) 797-7015, ext. 403.
Hernando Youth Initiative: The third annual Summit for Youth, sponsored by the Greater Hernando County Chamber of Commerce Education Committee and Hernando County Education Foundation, will be from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Sept. 30 at Faith Presbyterian Church, 200 Mount Fair Ave., Brooksville. Limited to the first 300 who respond to HernandoYouth Initiative@yahoo.com. RSVP deadline is Sept. 28. This free forum will provide a networking opportunity among businesses, schools, social service providers, faith-based organizations, governmental bodies and interested community members committed to improving local youth.
Nature Coast Technical High School: Broadway actor Alexander Gemignani, and his wife, teacher/director Erin Ortman, will conduct a series of workshops for drama students at Nature Coast Tech on Sept. 16 and 17. The school's Shark Theater received a grant from Target, allowing it to fly the duo from New York to serve as guest artists in the classroom. Gemignani and Ortman have been working with drama teachers Lori Erickson and Tim Erickson to create workshops designed for students in the Shark Theater acting and musical theater classes.
Parrott Middle School: The School Advisory Council meets at 4:30 p.m. Sept. 28 in the media center.
Pine Grove Elementary School: There will be a campuswide Title I parent night from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Sept. 16 for grades 3 to 5. A separate night for kindergarten to Grade 2 parents will be from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Sept. 23.
• Boy Scout signups are from 7 to 8 p.m. Sept. 28 in the cafeteria.
Spring Hill Elementary School: The School Advisory Council meets at 3 p.m. Monday in the media center.
• The Parent-Teacher-Student Organization meets at 2:50 p.m. Sept. 16 in the media center. The group will have an ice cream social from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Sept. 24 in the cafeteria.
