CARROLLWOOD — Passing motorists stopped to pull a man from a sport utility vehicle sinking into a pond Thursday night, deputies said.
The man drove his SUV into a bridge wall at S Village Drive and Casey Road for an unknown reason, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office.
The vehicle plunged into the pond around 9:40 p.m. Other motorists jumped into the water and pulled the man out. He was breathing but unresponsive, said Deputy Larry Mckinnon, a spokesman for the Sheriff's Office.
Paramedics were preparing to take the man to a local hospital. Neither the victim or the rescuers have been identified.
